How 2WayLive works?

2WayLive offers a very cost-effective Educational Video-Conferencing solution. At 1/10th the cost of traditional video conferencing solutions, it offers comparable quality, latency, and additional unique features specially designed for educational networks.

  • Full-motion, High definition video transmission.
    Unlike whiteboard collaboration systems like webex, WizIQ etc which are predominantly desktop/whiteboard focused applications with the faculty relegated to a lower-quality, low-resolution PIP window. 2WayLive is a broadcast-grade, HD-quality video distribution platform which puts board-teaching faculty firmly ‘up-and-center’. System is capable of studio transmission of Faculty video at a) near-HD 720p @ 1.5 Mbps, b) HD 1080p @ 2.5 Mbps, or c) full-HD 1920p @ 4.5 Mbps. Remote classroom PCs can receive the transmission at nominally 3-5 selectable rates which can vary from 4.5 Mbps to 300 Kbps as configured for each network.
  • Link Aggregation.
    2WayLive uses, a) Bandwidth Aggregation Tool to combine separate internet links to virtually create a fail-safe, fatter bandwidth capacity and, b) selectable reception rates to overcome unforeseen network availability or congestion issues. Through its unique implementation of BAT, a classroom PC can receive high-quality, full-motion HD video at all times, even by aggregating capacities of multiple inexpensive 4G wi-fi dongles. Using a combination of a) selectable video reception rates and b) ability to add more links whenever required, 2WayLive users can be assured of uninterrupted reception at all times. Multiband signal booster can be deployed with 4G-data links to ensure high-gain reception at all times.
  • Real-time Interaction.
    Latency is a key performance parameter for live collaboration systems. Many video streaming platforms experience a one-way transmission latency of 20-60 seconds. This means that 2-way voice collaboration is almost impossible, and even chat based relay interaction is likely to be painful. With any latency beyond 5-6 seconds, the classroom session is reduced to one-way streaming only. This is not how real-world classroom interaction works.
    2WayLive has addressed the issue in a unique manner. It offers two ‘auto-switchable’ modes of operation Under Transmission-mode it enjoys a screen-to-screen latency of under-2 seconds. When interacting (chat, query-response or talk) with a classroom, the Interaction-mode offers an ‘Interaction-Latency’ of less than 400 milliseconds. Therefore the effective audio-video-data latency between a pair of interacting Teacher and Student is practically zero.

    Using a return video overlay system, the students in the classrooms can be individually identified, observed and addressed.
  • Star-Chat
    Two-way live chat is an essential component of a tele-education collaboration system. The unique 2WayLive Chat provides a Class-Chat and a Support Chat. Class-Chat is between the Faculty and the students while the Support-Chat is between the studio support people and the classroom coordinator.
    Faculty messages are visible to all centers, while Student messages are visible only to the Faculty. All student messages are prefixed by the name of the student asking a query, so a personalized response can be crafted by the Faculty.
    Support messages are seen only by the Support persons both ways. Classrooms can log in to Support chat through their mobiles also.
    2WayLive chat engine is built for real-time communication with the latency of under-100 ms.
    RealTime Attendance enables real-time updating of student presence in the classroom. A question tab allows entry or uploading of long questions that the Faculty must respond to, during or after the session.
  • RealTime Student Response System (RT-SRS)
    With the physical distance between the Teacher and the Taught, along comes a teaching-learning transactional divide. A key tool to bridge this divide, and in some ways elevate it to an even higher engagement than a physical class, is the deployment of RealTime Quiz System. At planned intervals or impromptu, the Faculty can seek a poll or a quiz, and get immediate class-wide response across multiple locations. The results are presented in the beautiful graphics interface, enabling the teacher and the students to view the responses. In its various implementations such as Individual Quiz (IQ), Active Quiz (AQ) and Team Quiz (TQ), suitable for corresponding pedagogy, the Faculty can engage the class quite effectively, and based on objective data assess the gaps or achievement of objectives. The RT-SRS can be implemented in a BYOD scheme using student’s mobile phones or for environments where mobile usage is not possible or desirable, using custom hand-held Student Response Device.
